Welcome to #RepostPositivityNYC

This is #RepostPositivityNYC! There is a wide variety of social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat which are frequented by an even wider variety of users. Over the past decade individuals have begun utilizing social media more and more with a wide range of motives behind the maintenance of their social media personas. As society adapts to and embraces the use of these platforms it has become a norm for adolescents to spend an alarming amount of time on social media. As a result of their growing amount of time spent on social media adolescents are exposed to an overwhelming amount of various lifestyles and conflicting opinions. Adolescents are in a key developmental stage where they are learning different social cues as well as how to interact with other individuals. Therefore, the content of some social media pages or posts can prove detrimental to their development and even damaging to their overall mental health. The goal of this campaign is to reinvent the negative social climate present throughout a multitude of social media platforms. In the First Hand Accounts tab you can read opinions on social media’s effects from every day adolescent users. The How to Deal with Negative Effects of Social Media tab will teach you a few ways to implement healthy habits to practice when using social media and through these practices you can better defend your peace. If you find yourself agreeing with the opinions shared or want to actively participate in making a change then we encourage you to participate in the #RepostPositivityNYC challenge and watch as we begin to alter the growing negativity throughout social media.
